HYOUKA 1. The Return of the Time-Honored Classic Lit Club Figures in parentheses () are uncertain. (Houtarou Oreki) They say high school is all sunshine and roses. Sunshine, roses, rainbows, unicorns. I’ve heard so much about blessing excitement being high school student that I bring it off as a worn-out cliche. Who’s to say that all teenagers even want high school to be like some fairy-tale fever dream. Seems ridiculous to me. As all the studying, the sports this area, the saccharine sweet meet romantic affairs. Those are the worst. A lot of teenagers have no interest in that kind of nonsense, right? Well, I guess when you rule out all that crap there’s not much leftover, is there? Satoshi Wow, Hotaro, I never knew you were such a full-fledged pessimist. Hotaro Wait, pessimist? Satoshi Why have you got a problem with studying, sports, romance, things normal kids enjoy. You make it sound so dismal. Hotaro That’s not what I said. You misunderstood me. Satoshi I’m telling you what I hear. Maybe you're just lazy. What do you think of that? Hotaro hm Satoshi Anytime you think something’s a hassle, or seems like it might be frivolous, you refuse to do it, which explains your motto. Hotaro If I don’t have to, I’m not going to. And, if I have to, I’ll do it as quickly as possible. Satoshi That’s the one. But just so you know, by not joining any of the offerings the veritable mecca of clubs, which we call Kamiyama high, you’ve made a little black cloud appear above your head. You might think you're slick, but you're only punishing yourself. You’ve crossed over into downright of masochism. Hotaro You sure like to run your mouth. Satoshi You just now noticing? We've been friends since middle school. Hotaro hm,, whatever go without me. Satoshi What do you mean, without you? What the.. Is that what I think it is?? A club application? Hotaro, you're joining one? Classic lit club? Really? Hotaro Oh you know. Satoshi Off course I do. Since what're you in the classic lit. What’s that? What does the letter from your sister have to do with it? Hotaro She sent it to me from India, some place in the north, called Varanasi. Satoshi Oh, yeah. I see what’s going on. Your sister's blackmailing you. Hotaro They're threatening to shut it down for lack of members. She wants me to join and help keep the club alive. Satoshi But I thought your sister was more into martial arts. Hotaro Aikido actually which is worse. If she wants to hurt you, she knows just how to do it. Satoshi Then you should do what she says. Hotaro Well, it’s not like I have anything better to do. Believe me, I have tried to think of (any) excuse. Satoshi So, the club doesn’t have any members? Hotaro Nope. Satoshi Well then, look on the bright side, you'll have the club room all to yourself. It'll be nice to have your own private space on school grounds at least. Sounds like a dream. Hotaro My own private space? I salute people who have that kind of energy. knock knock People usually misunderstand me on this. It’s not like I think my way of doing things is better than theirs by any means. I don’t think myself superior to those who choose to get involved. I'm just true to my motto, that’s all. If I don’t have to, I’m not going to. And if I have to, I’ll do this as quickly as possible. Student (There see?) Student Ew! Hotaro Fourth floor of the auxiliary building, that's as remote as it gets. um? Eru hm Hotaro huh? Eru Hello there. I didn’t know you are in classic literature club. Oreki, right? Hotaro Who are you? Eru Oh, you don’t know? My name is Eru, Eru Chitanda. Hotaro Sorry, I have no idea who you are. Eru Hotaro Oreki from class 1B, that is your name, isn’t it? I’m in class 1A, so we have met. Hotaro I’m sorry, but that’s not () rebels so.. 1A.. Maybe we share elective. Wait a sec, you wouldn’t happen to be my music class, would you? Eru Yep Hotaro We’ve only hand that class once so far this term. Her memory is incredible. So what, Chitanda, what you doing in here. Are you lost or something? Eru Nope. You see? I join the classic lit club. This is what (accessary) supposed to mean. Hotaro Are you for real? Why would you do that? Eru I have my own reasons, but they’re kind of personal. Why did you join? Hotaro Oh well, no reason really, I’m just glad you have members. Are you happy now, sis? Classic lit club lives to see another day. Well, see you later. Eru You are leaving already? Hotaro Sure I am, have fun in here. Be sure to lock up when you leave. Eru What? I can’t let go before I don’t have a key. Hotaro What’s that? Eru I was saying that I don’t have a key. Hotaro Oh yeah, here. Eru Wait a sec, why do you have the key to this room, Oreki? Hotaro What do you mean by that? How (and how) was I supposed to get door locked class room without one? Pardon my flinch I’m confused. I don’t understand how you got in before I showed up. Eru The door was open when I got here. Hotaro Well, then, you must’ve just locked behind you. Eru Are you saying what I think? I was locked in here? Hotaro Yeah, you were. Eru So, someone came along and trapped me alone in this room until you showed up? Hotaro Look, I’m sure you just did yourself. Are you certainly you didn’t? Eru Yes I am absolutely certain. Hotaro But, I’m the only one with the key. I mean what else could’ve possibly happened here. Eru Maybe we should ask the guy who’s hiding in the hallway. Hotaro Satoshi. Satoshi Hey hey, sorry about that. I totally didn’t () eavesdrop on you guys. Hotaro You totally did. Satoshi Okey, guilty is charged. But I’ve got admit when I see good buddy, Hotaro known for his () in the empty classroom with the young lady in (dusk fast) approaching? I get more than a little curious. I had no intention of versing in there. I kind of want to see what it was like to be a Peeping Tom. Eru Hey, we were, no, I wasn’t,, Hotaro You’ve gotta be kidding me. Satoshi Off course, just joking. Eru Oh thank goodness. Hotaro Sorry about that. This guy has no manners at all. Satoshi Nothing beats a good joke, don’t ever take life too seriously. I live by that model. Eru Right.. Oreki, who is this boy. Hotaro This is Satoshi Fukube, would be a comedian. Satoshi hm Eru I see. Satoshi Hey, good one. I’m honored that you think so, good friend. Nice to meet you. And you are..? Eru I’m Eru Chitanda. Satoshi Did you say Chitanda? (As) in the very famous Chitandas? Hotaro What’s the matter with you? Satoshi Wait, are you telling me you’ve never heard of Chitanda family? Kamiyama has more than a few prestigious dynasties. But none of them () notable is the four higher power familes. There is the shrine Jumonji family. This is the Sarusuberi book store tycoons. The wealthy Chitanda farmers. And the Manninbashi land owners. Written this way, the Kanji for its name increases by the power of ten hence the name higher power families. Hotaro Is that true? Eru I wouldn’t say we are prestigious family. And I’ve never heard of (as referred to) that name before. Hotaro You made up the name. Satoshi It sounds cool and I thought I can be the one (who) coin the phrase. Eru They really increase by powers of ten, huh? Hotaro Don’t (accele) impressed. Forget (). Satoshi They also say the oldest Chitanda girl is known for her beauty and incredible grades and that she is the most refined girl in the all of Kamiyama. In middle school, she got a perfect score on the prefectural exams and the school board went crazy. Hotaro No way, is he right? Eru It’s just a fluke. I have () for acing standardized test. Satoshi Well, I beg your pardon. Anyway, I happened to hear you guys talking. Wow, what a mistery, am I right? Hotaro I’m not following. Satoshi How and the heck did Chitanda get locked inside this room earlier? Eru Oh, we are forgot. When I showed up the door (to) this room was most definitely unlocked, but when Oreki got here was bolted and () get inside. So, what happened? Hotaro Well that’s easy. You must’ve locked when you came in and forgotten. Satoshi Try again. Kami high school’s doors can only be locked using keys from the insides or the outsides. So that means it’s not even possible for Chitanda to lock self in. Eru That’s crazy. Hotaro Man, you’ve been such a (know) at all. Satoshi I prefer the term database, sir? Hotaro Hm,, Well, I’m sure there is a reasonable explanation for this lock thing. See you guys later. Eru No. Please don’t go just yet. Hotaro Why not? Eru I have to know. How did it come to be locked in this room like that. And if the door was supposed to be locked why was it open when I got here. Did someone leave it open on purpose? And If they did, why? If not, how did they lock () without me noticing. I beg you Oreki, think about it carefully. I need your hand. Please I have to know. Hotaro Yeah,, ok I’ll help. It is interesting after all. Eru Thank you so very much. So, do you have any ideas to (stop) the top of your head? Satoshi Wow, Chitanda, give (me) some time, when I fall off useless information and can’t make any deductions, Hotaro is the opposite. Once he seizes some time to think, his conclusions are fairly accurate. Hotaro That’s enough. Let’s see. So, how long were you here before me. Eru It couldn’t have been more than three minutes. Hotaro Did you notice anything unusual? Eru Well, actually, I’ve been hearing this weird rattling below us this whole time. Satoshi What? I don’t hear anything. Eru It’s really faint. Listen. Satoshi You must have really sharp ears. So, have you figured anything out yet? Eru Maybe. Hotaro I bet the culprit is on the floor below us right now. Worker Last one, good Satosi Uhuh, Chitanda must have gone into the room where the maintenance guy was working and accidentally got locked inside without knowing it Hotaro I have the regular key to the science room in my pocket. I know the (genetor) has a master. They don’t give those out to students . Satoshi That’s how you knew he was working. But still, you guessed that just from the noise. Hotaro Yeah, I did. Anyway, I still don’t understand why didn’t notice the sound of the door locking when you are inside the science room if you could hear the (genetor) through the floor. Eru Ah, simple explanation. I was distracted by that old building. Satoshi It’s ancient. Eru Yep Hotaro Is it really? Satoshi Yeah, look at it. Eru By the way, we should talk about the club. Satoshi That’s right. Eru Yeah. (From the look of things), I would say it’s only gonnna be the three of us Hotaro Three of us. Eru Fukube, what do you think? Wanna join? Satoshi Why not? I sure had a lot fun today. I’ll have to () executive committee in the () clause, but a,, Yep, I’m in. Hotaro is in too. He’s already filled up the application. Eru Have you, really? Hotaro; Yeah, I filled it up. Eru Great. Right, I’ll turn this in. I’m really looking forward to seeing you again. Satoshi Yeah, same here. And Hotaro is too. Eru I guess we gonna have to choose a president. Who should be picked? Satoshi Huh,, good question. I don’t think Hotaro would be the best candidate. Hotaro Well, there you have it, sis? Your pressures to classic literature club lives to see another term. As a result, my dreams of conserving energy are dead. No, I’m not gonna () rest (for the) out of a fight. I refuse to give up my piece () easily. I will devote all my effort to do (this) as little as possible. There’s just one problem, that little lady. Satoshi It happened yesterday after school. A first year girl climbed to fourth floor of the auxiliary building. When she arrived, she heard () streams of moonlight sonata coming from the music room. Setting sun,() the hole way () and () the warm tone. Hotaro Objection, it rained all day, you couldn’t see the sunset. Satoshi Fine, it was a dark and gloomy afternoon and dusk () here. A fear of knees climbed the girl in the ()() skin () shiver. Hotaro Embarrassing. Satoshi Lured by the mysterious tone, she entered the room. immediately the music stopped. The lid of piano was up and no one was seated at the (). The drawn curtain and the gloomy weather mede the room darker than usual. That’s what she saw her. A female student with long messy hair hang over the face front over across the room. Her eyes was so blood shut and almost (). It was the gun step of the piano member of the past. () tragic () before national competition. Hotaro Oh really. Satoshi Well, I don’t know the that part for sure. It’s not impossible. Hotaro Yeah, that’s what I thought. Satoshi Hey, I’ve gotta say, this is a surprise. I don’t think you have ever forgotten your homework all the years I’ve known you. Hotaro I didn’t forget to do it. I just left it home this morning, that’s all. So, now I have to stay after school, write same stupid essay again while you talk my ear off. Satoshi Yeah, lucky you. Anyway, I heard the really was a crazy hair ghost in the music room, that’s all. Anyone in class A talked about it during lunch today. The real question is how quickly the story was spread through the rest of the school. (). It’s one of the seven wonder of Kamiyama high school, number two, you know? I’m interested to see how many days it takes to spread to class D, my class. Hotaro Hold on a second. Exactly when where from home did you hear this story? Satoshi Earlier today, in the club room from Chitanda. Hotaro Is the music room goes to the second of seven wonders, what’s the first. I’m sure you are dying to tell me. Eru Hey, I was suspected I might find you two in here. I laddered up for you, here you go. Satoshi Thanks, I appreciate that. I’m sorry, as a member of the executive committee, I’m forced to delegate some of responsibilities to others. Eru Don’t worries, after all I am the club president now. Hi, Oreki. Hotaro You came in the perfect time. Satoshi just finished telling me a quite interesting story. Eru Yeah, I’m glad you () that up. I heard that at lunch. Hotaro It’s about the mysterious secret club recruitment notes. Have you heard it? Eru Secret club? Hotaro Why don’t you tell that story, Satoshi? Satoshi What do you say? Wanna hear it? Honestly, it’s pretty fascinating. Eru Yes. Satoshi I heard it today at the executive committee meeting. Well, you already know this school has a million clubs. So, off course there are recruitment posters postered all over the place. There are so many at the bulletin boards could ()(). When the executive committee finds an unauthorized post, we take them down, no exceptions. However, for the past few years, a strange recruitment notice (has) been turning up. No one claims (who know a) thing about it. Last year, showed up as a scrap of a note book paper with just a meeting place and times scribbled on it. This club has been gathering, conducting secret business and recruiting new members all without the executive committee knowledge. No one knows for sure who they are, what they do, but we do have one piece of information, their name. Eru Yeah, what is it? Satoshi Joro spiders society. Eru Joro spider. Satoshi So, you know Tanabe, the chair of the executive committee? Well, he tried () them up last year by going to the legend meeting place at the exact time the note says. That plan didn’t go over so well. He didn’t find anything beside it was a hopes that the committee looks stupid. However. Eru What happened? Satoshi On graduation day, one of the departing student () aside, and says,“I was the president of Joro spider society.” Please give my warm regards to the one who succeeds me, which will be hard because we will ensure that you never unveil (us) identity. They’re likely recruiting members for this year, too. But we haven’t be able to find the secret base yet. Eru The () recruitment note of Joro spider society. That’s it, I must know. Hotaro Yes. I had feeling you’d say that, which is why I said you came the a perfect time Eru What do you mean by that? Hotaro You are just in the next step, to find the note. Eru Right. Hotaro There’s total of thirty bulletin board throughout the school. Eru That many? Are we going to search all of them? Hotaro No, we are not. It’s faster just the search the board with the most likely to hide the note. Eru That make sense. Hotaro Where would you put the secret recruitment note? Eru Well, if it were up to me, I think I pin it to another corner bulletin boards where it would attract as little attention as possible. Hotaro That’s where you are in wrong, though. Eru Wait, why is that? Hotaro Remember that the purpose of this notice to recruit members. So, they probably put it on the boards in the first floor entrance. Eru What? But everyone in the school would see, wouldn’t they? Satoshi Hold on, Chitanda. I’m sure Hotaro has a brilliant idea (up) sleep. Wow, it’s pretty impressive that our school has all these clubs, kinda hard to believe. Eru Well, this remarkable, a calligraphy club, a basket ball club, a track club, but it just keeps going. There’s barely it would be space left on the board. Hey Oreki, are you doing OK? Hotaro Yeah, I’m just a little overwhelmed by all this activity, I guess. Satoshi This world must be beyond () to our energy conserving friend here. Anyway, since this is a first bulletin board that students see, it’s become a battle ground. Eru Wait, what is that mean? Oh, right. I get it. There’s so many clubs competing to get notice so that unauthorized post can slip (under the later). Hotaro That’s part of it. Eru Part of it? Wait, what could assume other reasons be. Hotaro You’ll see. Let’s just start looking around, OK? Eru Right. There’s the environmental club, debate club, even a hundred poets card game club, ah, fortune telling club. I have a good friend who just joined that one on this year. Satoshi Oh yeah. Eru Koto club, ping-pong club, the art club,, It doesn’t seems like there’s anything here for the Joro spider spciety. Satoshi I don’t know. You might not be able to tell what the secret recruitment note is just by looking at it. Eru What? What do you mean by that? Satoshi Well, they might come up with the code to keep the executive committee from finding them out . Eru A code,, I see. Satoshi Aha. But if it’s here we are gonna break it. Hotaro Found something. Eru There it is, all right. I would imagine they pick a more crowded place on the board to hide it. Hotaro Definitely the work of amateurs. An unexperienced first years trying to be (). If this secret club knew at all what they were doing, our job would have been much harder. Eru It’s a good point. It’s still weird, though. They are lack of any real skills painfully obviously now you mentioned it, but I’m not actually surprised (on the least). Satoshi No stamp of approval from the committee. Well, I’d better report this. Hotaro All right, I’m gonna stop by the faculty room to turn in my essay. Then start to head home. Satoshi Yeah, OK. I guess I’ll walk alone with you then. Eru It is getting late. Until the next time we meet then gentle man, any experienced first years trying to be (). I’ll never forget that. Satoshi Well, you fight mystery with mystery plan was a real success, I applaud you. Hotaro Yeah, thanks for all your help. For some reasons, I had feelings she was coming find us. Satoshi Uhh, so that’s why you wrote the note and got the pin ready. Well, looks like you have a () for the (ception). I’m curious though, why did you go to so much trouble to set up () loose just to the distract from the music room mystery. Don’t tell me that silly ghost story actually freaked you out or something. Hotaro The music room was too far away. Satoshi Are you kidding? Hotaro No, I’m not. I wanted to find the way to get us close to the main entrance, wrap up the mystery, so I can turn in my essay, and get the heck out of there fast. Satoshi I wish I could say I’m surprised. That’s typical Hotaro. Eru “Please I have to know.” Hotaro If I have to do something, I’ll do this quickly as possible, right? Satoshi No way. You won’t get away with that. If you gonna proclaim your model, do it with your head held high, don’t paraphrase. If I’d know any better, I would say you are just making a solely excuse. Distracting from one mystery with another mystery? I approve. Nice (). But you know something, Hotaro, what you did today wasn’t your style. When Chitanda showed up, why didn’t you just (blow) her off, like the lazy bones we know in love. That was fatal mistake this afternoon. You would have been home, already. Sometimes, you don’t know how to best live by your own model. Hotaro Maybe you are right. Satoshi Inexperienced, first years trying to be (). That’s exactly you were today, as a matter of fact. Chitanda was throwing you off your game, my friend? I didn’t expect (that of you). I wonder why you took such a meander detour. I understand you were trying to trick Chitanda at all, but there were efficient ways. Hotaro I wasn’t actually trick her. Satoshi No, off course you weren’t. You were just putting the situation on board for later. Hotaro (). Oh yeah. That’s right. Satoshi Speaking of the other situation, what do you make up for the music room’s thing. Hotaro Right. Well,() shut eyes. It sounds like someone who just woke from a nap. Satoshi Oh, you are right. Hotaro Some piano club member got sleepy and decided to have a rest. She was nervous that she’d sleep past six o’clock when they lock up. So, she set the alarm on the CD player and put it moonlight sonata. It’s a simple, is that? Satoshi That make sense. I’m sure we check it out, we would have known it right away. Hotaro The music room is too far away. Satoshi Yeah, I hear that. Even so, you know what? I have a feeling you wasted a lot of time by (aboarding) the trip. You could conserve more energy by checking it out. Be careful next time. This might end up costing you more than you think. This is me. Don’t worry. I don’t judge. But (knock) it hold over your head. Bye. Hotaro One (hold), huh? Right.

We added 3 special modes to the accent LED1 pad. Using those special modes disable neither the other accent leds nor the possibility to use the PLI. We defined 4 modes for that specific accent LED Normal LED1 remains a regular sequenced LED and also displays the last segment of the PLI bargraph. High-Power LED mirror LED1 will mirror (or mimic) the behavior of the blade main LED, including flicker and shimmer. Sound Mirror LED1 will be animated in regard of the sound envelope (the "beat") Crystal PulseTM LED1 brightness will be pulsed up and down as defined by the additional parameters used in the led parameters configuration files (see below). New parameters have been added to the leds.txt, idle.txt and lockup.txt files to provide multiple scenarios for the LED1 accent pad. The mode of this specific accent LED can be different in each saber mode (off/idle, blade on, lockup). ・acc1mode [0-3] type of effect of accent pad LED1. 0 is normal sequenced LED, 1 is main led mirror, 2 is sound mirror, 3 is Crystal PulseTM. ・acc1pulsed [0-99] Depth of the Crystal PulseTM mode, in %. To have brightness sweep from max brightness to zero and conversely, use 99%. ・acc1pulsel [0-5000] Duration of the pulse half-trip, in multiple of 2m like the other timing parameters of Crystal Focus. Note that we did implement a more rudimentary algorithm compared to the blade pulsing system hence accurate or very long timing aren t possible. The bank selection menu now has some more settings and parameters to define its behavior (leds.txt file). サウンドバンク選択メニューの動作を定義する、幾つかの設定とパラメーターを追加した(led.txtファイル内) ・menupli [0-1] defines if the PLI will be displayed during the bank selection menu. If enabled, the PLI will be displayed shortly after the browsing operation. The currently selected bank number will be displayed by lighting up the matching LED of the PLI (bank 1 = led 1) then the PLI will displayed afterward. The user can decide to disable that feature to maintain the bank number displayed all the time during the bank selection process. ・menupli [0-1] バンク選択中にPLI(Power Level Indicator)を表示させる。 ・glyphXX defines a set of states to convert the bank number into a set of led that will light up. It s essentially made to drive a 7 segment display so that the currently selected bank # is reflected by an actual number on the display. This example shows a glyph conversion for a classic 7 segment display which segments are ordered from A to G starting from the top segment then spinning clockwise. The glyph table can be used to map any sort of display or representation of the bank #, like for instance a binary number (on 7 bits). If the user prefers the legacy mode of CFv5, the glyph table will then light up a single led for each bank, the led rank / position maching the bank # as in the example on the left. One of the great improvements since version 2 is the “Force Push” sound effect. In our favorite movies, the characters have the ability to push an opponent using telekinesis. This effect is by definition silent, however, in the video games for instance, an audio effect is added to provide the appropriate feedback to the player or to the audience. The “Force Push” gesture is (usually) done by the hand which is not holding the saber, it’s therefore impossible to detect the gesture with it(without additional sensors). We implemented a “trick” to control the “Force Push” using our gesture detection system and the auxiliary button. The main idea is to use the hand holding the saber as the “real” trigger of the effect while the other hand fakes to do the gesture. The fighter will “push” his opponent with one hand while moving a bit the saber/hilt and pressing the aux. button at the same time. The aim is to trigger a swing gesture while pressing the aux. button at the same time it will play the corresponding “force” sound effect (force.wav). This combo is not so easy to achieve especially is the fighter is strongly left or right handed. It might be easier for an ambidextrous person, or someone playing a musical instrument. But just like dueling with a saber, it just requires practice and training to master an expert gesture. To get used to the Force Push technique, increase in a significant way the value of lockup to stay away from an easy blade lockup triggering. Press the aux. button first then wave the hilt to trigger a Force Push effect. Once you’ll get used to this combo (aux. button then quick waving), reduce again the parameter lockup until you obtain a good access to the 3 effects activated by the aux. button (Blaster Deflection, Blade Lockup, Force Push) Since version 4, a similar combination exists with a clash. Pressing first on the aux. switch just before triggering a clash (blade impact), the force2.wav sound is played. Once the effect has been played, if the auxiliary button is kept pressed, the blade lockup and blaster effects are disabled until the button is released. However, clash and swing effects remain active. Motion Activated Ignition Power on Move / Power on Force ゼスチャーによるセーバー起動/Power on Force Crystal Focus now has a secondary blade ignition technique, motion based. Probably not supposed to be used for stage combat, it’s however a very nice and enjoyable demo feature. To activate the Power On Force ignition, the pof parameter must be set to a non-zero value. The pof parameter defines the motion threshold required to ignite the blade. Values from 5 to 15 are usually fine. Please note that to avoid an ignition regardless what the user is doing with the hilt, the ignition motion must be executed in the axis of the saber. A nice way to achieve the ignition motion is to hold the hilt in a parry/guard position and give it a good shake downward. That feature is compatible with the following hilt setup Momentary switch (preferred). The Power on Move is bypassing a press on the ignition button. Latching switch with A-POP enabled. As a matter of fact, Power on Move will bypass the change of state of the latching switch, but without A-POP, blade would power off immediately after starting. A-POP awaits the Aux. switch to be pressed to power the blade off. Hence after igniting the blade with the Power on Move, the user must manually change the switch to the ON position. Otherwise, the next press on the aux. switch will power off the board. The Power on Move parameter (pom) defines if the CF board will use the angle of the hilt to select the power on sound (out of 4 different ones) OR if it will play a special sound when the blade is ignited by a Power on Force. The angle of the hilt can be used to select the power on sound during a ignition (using the activation switch). This provides an interesting way to get ignition variants. Ignition ramp up effect remains mapped on the selected power on sound duration (unless fixed with the quick(on parameter), so a long ignition sound can be chosen for the upward blade position, leading to a dramatic look, while other ignition sounds remain shorter. There is no parameter to disable that feature. If the user doesn’t want the Ignition Sound Angular Selection while the sound font provides multiple power on sounds, a single one can be picked up and copied in place of the 4 sound slots (poweron.wav, poweron2.wav, poweron3.wav and poweron4.wav) Crystal Focus also offers a motion based selection of the power-off sound. Selection is simply made of the hilt moving (general move, not in a specific direction) or not. During a regular power off (steady), the sound poweroff.wav will be played. During a power-off initiated while the hilt is moving, the sound pwroff2.wav will be played. 動かしている間だとpwroff2.wavが再生される。 Motion threshold is defined by the ls parameter so that motion during power off has the same energy as a gentle swing. There is no parameter to disable that feature. If the user doesn’t need or want an alternate power-off sound, a single sound will be installed in both slots of the sound font. Along the years, we’re remained opposed to the popular tendency of designing boards wasting energy and using power hungry processor just because they are faster and allows cheap bulky code writing while we rather preferred working harder to optimize code and firmware efficiency to have all those features running on a single board, driven by a single low power processor. “For the sake of the Art of Embedded Electronics…” 「すべては組込向けエレクトロニクスの芸術のために」 Crystal Focus features two power saving modes. The idle mode is when the blade is off. In that state, the board will play the accent LED sequence stored in the idle.txt file and the power saving is only partial. That mode is meant to provide a stylish look to the hilt when the blade is off while still being animated. It gives the impression the hilt is “active and ready to kick-in”. Also, while in that mode, the blade can be ignited with the Power on Move if that option has been enabled in the configuration file. After a duration defined by the sleep parameter (5000 = 10 seconds for instance) the board will leave the Idle Mode for the Deep Sleep Mode. The accent LED sequence defined in the the idle.txt file will no longer be played and the board will then use only a few mA. To keep the hilt indicating it’s powered by the battery pack (kill key removed from the recharge port), the board will blink the chosen accent LED using the parameters idleled and idlepulsing (refer to paragraph “Deep Sleep Flashing LED”). Having the hilt staying in that mode allows a good part of the runtime to be preserved even if the kill key isn’t put back in. sleepパラメーターに定義した値(例えば5000なら10秒)の時間の後、基板は待機モードを抜けてディープスリープモードに移行する。 Depending on the actual use of the hilt (saber play, choreography, demo hilt etc) the user might no want to use one or the other mode. Also, the wakeup parameter defines how the hilt will move from the deep sleep mode back to the idle mode. To disable the idle mode and jump straight in the deep sleep mode, set the sleep parameter to 0 and eventually set the accent LED sequence states to zero to avoid any light glitch just after the blade power off. To stay in the idle mode and never reach the deep sleep mode, set the sleep parameter to 65535. Hilt will then play the idle.txt accent LED sequence in loop (unless sequence is interrupted with a zero delay). ヒルトはidle.txtに定義されたアクセントLEDによる電飾を繰り返し表示し続ける(電飾の定義が0で止められない場合) With wakeup set to 0, hilt will enter idle mode after power off and will engage the deep sleep count-down timer. Once the timer has elapsed the duration of the sleep parameter, hilt will enter the deep sleep mode. No motion can reset the count down timer. As a result, this provides a nice way to enjoy some accent LED sequence after the power off, then save on the hilt runtime automatically, even if the saber is held or waved. As mentioned above, if the user wants to ensure the hilt enters the deep sleep mode immediately, just set the sleep parameter to 0. wakeupパラメーターが0のとき。 The activation switch will then remain the only solution to wake up the board by igniting the blade again. This setup is great for an “actually used” or a costume saber, so that user can still enjoy the accent LED sequence played for a while, but ensuring board will go in power saving mode after a while (sleep parameter) and that motion will not be able to interrupt the timer count-down process, especially when saber is worn at the belt. With wakeup set to 1, hilt will enter idle mode after blade power off, and the deep sleep count down timer will be reset if some motion is registered by the board. The board is “kept alive” by motion. Once the hilt rest on a stable position and the timer finally expires, it will enter deep sleep mode. Also, once the board has entered the deep sleep mode, a motion of the hilt will wake it up, returning to the idle mode and starting to play the idle.txt accent LED sequence. wakeupパラメーターが1のとき。 This setup is recommended when demonstrating a hilt while ensuring it will end going in power saving mode when not held, shown or demonstrated. With wakeup set to 2, hilt will behave almost exactly like when set to 1, however once the deep sleep mode has been reached, motion will not make the board returning to idle sleep. That mode is great so that, once the board is in power saving mode, grabbing it (packing up, moving to another place…) will not wake it up, hence preserving runtime. wakeupパラメーターが2のとき。 Mute On The GoTM Mute On the Go(音声オフモード) Proposed / requested by Novastar for the specific situation of teaching saber classes and interacting with students. We all enjoy our saber to be loud when playing with it, however, it’s hard to show saber moves and interact with the students with the saber sound in the background. If was already possible to mute the saber in the previous versions by using a dedicated bank in which mute was enabled, however it was not very convenient to go back and forth between banks just to show a few saber moves in a quiet way. We therefore tweaked the firmware so that, IF Anti Power On is disabled, pressing the aux. switch prior pressing the activator switch will mute the saber until powering the blade off (the power-off sound will be played). Further “regular” ignition (without pressing the aux. switch prior ignition) will have the normal sound volume as setup in the configuration file of the selected sound bank. Using R.I.C.E.(Real-time Internal Configuration Editor) R.I.C.E.(Real-time Internal Configuration Editor)使用方法 R.I.C.E. is a computer program allowing the user to remotely control, change and save the configuration of the current sound bank without disassembling the saber, using a data cable like the one sold at TCSS. R.I.C.E. is now available on PC (windows XP, Vista and Seven) and on MacOS. R.I.C.E. R.I.C.E.はPC(WindowsXP、Vista、7)とMacOS上で利用が可能である。 R.I.C.E. is very easy to use. The program is available for MacOS and Windows computers. With Windows 7, the TCSS cable will be recognized automatically without the need of installing drivers. R.I.C.E. The data cable is a USB serial port. You can source your own, there are mostly 3 different chipsets on the market, FTDI, the Prolific PL2303 and the Silicon Labs (Silabs) CP2102. The R.I.C.E. data connection to the sound board just requires 3 wires Rx, Tx and the ground. R.I.C.E. Getting started with R.I.C.E. R.I.C.E. The R.I.C.E. pads are under the sound board and are labelled. To connect the data cable we recommend using a 3.5 mm stereo female jack with the following wiring R.I.C.E. Ring=TXD Ring=TXD Tip=RXD Tip=RXD Sleeve=GND Sleeve=GND while it s possible to wire the sleeve (GND) wire to the GND pad of the board, we recommend to connect it to the battery pack negative and not to the board negative to avoid a kill key / recharge port bypass in the case a metal female jack is used. Prefer a female jack with a plastic housing. R.I.C.E. Note When not using the saber, especially when the kill key is inserted in the recharge port, disconnect the R.I.C.E. cable from the data port. If you got a USB serial port adapter from another source, the pinout might differ. If you cannot get the RICE software to talk to the board, try swapping Rx and Tx. もしR.I.C.E. To configure the board in real time with R.I.C.E. , just unzip the software archive in a directory of the hard drive and double click on the program icon. You ll get straight in the R.I.C.E. main window. CF基盤をR.I.C.E. するとR.I.C.E. (R.I.C.E.画面図) The numerous parameters of the main CF configuration file (config.txt) have been split in 5 tabs, organized by "themes" as much as possible to ease the configuration process. To establish the communication with the saber, turn the blade on, then select the serial port (sound board link status画面) It s advised to use a single serial port at a time. Sometimes you ll have your Bluetooth serial port enabled at the same time and appearing in the port selection menu make sure you identify the serial / COM port # corresponding to your R.I.C.E. cable. R.I.C.E. If you have a doubt, go to the System control panel and open the Peripherals list. Plugging / unplugging your cable will show up in the list. You can change the port # by right clicking on the COM peripheral and going in the advanced properties. I tend to renumber all my data cable as COM2 but I use only one at once. Note if by mistake you unplug your cable while the R.I.C.E. program is open, click "autoconnect" a couple of times to ensure the COM port list is updated again. 注意:誤ってR.I.C.E. With the saber on and the COM port selected, click connect. The saber should answer echo and the green light will turn on. From there, you re saber is ready to receive real-time configuration changes. Reading the current settings Just click on the "Read Cfg" button, and all the parameters of the different tabs will refresh with the current settings of the saber (for the currently loaded sound bank which number appears on the right side of the app). The key point with R.I.C.E. is that the data cable doesn t need to stay connected all the time to the saber once you ve altered a parameter and you want to test it in an actual condition. For example, the motion sensitivity parameters have to be tested by waving the hilt. It s not a problem at all R.I.C.E. supports to have data cable "hot unplugged" and the blade led can even be turned off and turned on again (for testing parameters like quick on and quick off durations. Then finally, the cable can be "hot plugged" again to proceed to the saving operation. R.I.C.E. R.I.C.E. Not sure of what you ve done ? You want to start over ? Discarding settings can be done in 2 ways Insert the kill key in the recharge port to cut the power of the saber. Non saved changes made to the configuration will be lost / discarded. Click on the default button in the app to have a default configuration applied to the saber. Beware, if your switch setup doesn t match the default, you might have to play with the switch to maintain the saber on until you have actually changed the switch setting. Once you re satisfied with the configuration of the saber, you can click on the "Save on SB" button. The saber will play the power off sound followed by a 3 note melody and will reboot with the settings saved. Using R.I.C.E. as a debug tool R.I.C.E. Your saber has issues, you don t know where it s stuck or why. Manually edit the configuration file of the (expected) sound bank that is accessed when you boot the saber add debug=1 on the first line of the file. The board will the be a lot more verbose during the boot process and will send out some useful debugging information. To see the boot process log, press Ctrl-M (or Apple-M on MacOS) to open the Max Window of the R.I.C.E. program. Before powering the saber (ie removing the kill key) make sure the data cable is inserted in the saber data port and in the USB port on the computer side, then select the right COM port in R.I.C.E. プログラムを最大化するためにCtrl-M(MacOSの場合はappleキーとM)を押す。 Finally, remove the kill key to power the saber and look at the log of information printed in the Max window.

E-business Model and the Issues Tue, 2007-04-24 Definition Purpose of Study History of E-Business New economy and Old economy Definition Electronic business (e-business) refers to the application of the internet to network and empower business transaction, organizational communication and collaboration within a firm and its customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. “The e-business concept covers all the means to make business through a Web site on the Internet; it covers e-services, e-products, e-sales, the supply chain, the relations between an organization and its customers, individuals or organizations themselves, providers and partners, subsidiaries, employees, etc”(Light e-business glossary English French I to Z, 2005, www site). E-business is sometimes recognized as the business utilizing any kinds of computer technologies, for example electronic spreadsheet or computer design software. However, in this paper, the study will focus on the use of network, in particular, internet, intranet , and extranet . Purpose of study I have written this paper with two major goals in mind. The first goal is that how firms need to choose their business model to demonstrate their best in the competitive economy. Therefore, the first chapter will make comparison between the main e-business models. And the next chapter will presents the advantages and the drawbacks of e-business. The second goal, related to the initial chapter, is to find the solutions for the security, privacy, and trust issues. Although, there are a number of e-business models which is suitable for the each forms of firms, there are also many problems in relation to such models. Hence, the more the number of e-business models increase, the more serious such issues become. The last chapter will discuss the internet law in relation to the security, privacy, and trust. History of e-business E-business has experienced three distinct periods between 1995 and 2005. In the first point, there was a great deal of enthusiasm and hopefulness that resulted in significant investment funds and lent momentum to the early development of the new business. The elevated value spotted in the new business fascinated ever-increasing number of investors who did not want to miss out a possible financial reward. This sequence of the event reflected the so-called ‘dot-com era’ from 1995 to 1999 when the number of internet-based companies increased dramatically each year. Ultimately, the market value far exceeded the real value of the industry and new funding started to decline. Simultaneously, the industry has tempted ever-increasing numbers of competitors who, alike to investors, fear missing out on prospective profits. The industry could not retain inflated values and high numbers of competitors and this, finally, turned out to be the industrial shake out. The second period is when the industry sought to strike a balance that better reflects the value of competitors and matched supply with demand. The dot-com crash in 2000 was an instance of the market movement righting themselves after a time of instability led by the first excitement connected to the business potential of internet. A number of internet-based companies disappeared as quickly as they had emerged and the new business fact indicated that only businesses with first actor advantages or a sturdy business model based on adding actual value to customers would survive. This period between 2000 and 2002 was a reflection time for entrepreneurs, investors, and lenders in the internet economy. They were thought about themselves and learned concerning the usage of the internet for business and commerce. Customers had also improved the knowledge in relation to how to use the new means for browsing and transactions. By the year of 2004, e-business had come to the third phase that many companies resumed using internet as a viable means of transacting and communicating. In this time, entrepreneurs, investors, and customers had come to be much wiser and more experienced in terms of the use of the internet. Managers have considered through their business strategies more carefully and have possessed in the key skills to their structures that could empower a competitive advantage. Entrepreneurs have re-emerged e-business with further better processes and more strong business models for acquiring a competitive advantage. Many more customers have obtained how to use the internet effectively and have been able to transact on the internet. This fact illustrates that internet-based organizations attained some of the greatest customer satisfaction rates of all commercial operations. New economy and old economy Internet has a notion of boundaryless between country and country, because it has opened up the hope of exchanging information, products and services around the world. This type of economy is often called “new economy”, for the internet technology has brought about the economy feature that is very different from the old economy’s one. Table 1 shows the key differences between old and new economy. As the table illustrates, there are many differences between the new economy and the old economy. One of the notable differences between the two economies is that the old economy is relatively stable, while the new economy is dynamic and complex. This fact is reflected in the Business factors since the feature for the new business economy indicates more connective between firms and firms or firms and customers than that of the old economy. As for the consumer factors, it seems that the distance between business and consumer has come to be closer. Issues Old economy New economy Economy factors Markets Stable Dynamic and complex Competition National International abd global Structure Manufucturing Service Value driver physical capital Human capital Business factor Organization Hierarchy Network or virtual Production Mass Flexible, customised Growth rdiver Capital and labour Innovation, speed, quality Relationship Independent Collaborative Consumer factors Tastes Stable Dynamic, segmented Skills Specialized Multipul and Flexible Educational needs Trade orientated Lifelong learning Workplace relations Confrontational Collaboratibe Nature of employment Stable Insecure, opportunistic Chapter1 E-shop and E-bisiness Portaling Manufacture model Distribution model Virtual community Many ambitious business actors in1995 to 1999(dot com era) invested a great deal of capital in the internet, because they were eager to benefit from the new types of business. However, most of them had gone bankrupt due to a lack of the knowledge about the technology, failure of the customers’ expectations, disagreement with the customers’ tastes, or discord between their own business and the new technology. Among them, only the companies established good business model could survive. In the current market, there are countless of internet-based businesses belonging to some of the models. In the beginning, we will examine five of the business models, by looking at the features, aims, targets, and some example of the firms and will concern about how the businesses utilize the internet as the key factors of their businesses. E-shops,Emalls A good place to start is to examine E-shops, E-malls. E shops offer companies with a channel of communication to customers and provide worthful information about what products and services are required by customers. They supply a quick, efficient and convenient course to accessing information on products and services and handling transactions. It is considered that e-shops are easy to enter in the market, for the type of the market is actually perfect competitive market, where there is no prevention from launching business and companies have no influence over the price that they sell. Some of the illustration of this is Nursery goods that provides infant clothes and accessories; Empiredirect specializing in electrical items; Onevillage that supply home accessories; Spoilt4choice offering delivery of gifts. Secondly, e-malls are a collection of e-shops that the owners run individually. In general, the e-malls that consist of a number of e-shops have some commonality between them. This may include the categories of products or services provided, the sort of payment system used or a common industrial market segment targeted. The positive aspects of e-mall is that firms operating e-shops can benefit mainly from supporting activities such as advertising, additional services (ex provision of discount coupon thickets for the online store users), and supporting technologies. Customers have also benefits stemming from the ease of access to a number of e-shops in the same business classification. E-shops have been often set up by firms that have conventionally run the bricks-and-mortar trading environment but are keen on expanding their online services. For a fine example of this, giant department stores like Bloomingdales, Costco, and K-mart in the USA. portaling As the second step in our analysis, we will examine about Portaling. Portal is the online channels through which websites are provided as content. The control of contents could be source of income for companies through charging for advertising for the other firms or charging customers a subscription for access. The portal model can be classified into two main groups such as general portal and personalized portals. General portal has high volume of traffic with millions of website browsers per month. The high volume traffic is very attractive for advertisers and produces revenue streams for the portal owners. There is high competition between websites and websites because the consumers invariably require a range of incentives to choose a particular portal. Examples include search engines like Google and Lycos or content-driven sites like AOL. As for the personalized portals, the content and website design is made for the tastes and interests of each user, because these sites aim at encouraging user loyalty by offering free access to content or software. Furthermore, some firms like Yahoo! and Netscape develop a customized interface that enables users to personalize the website. Manufacture model Another e-business model is Manufacturer model. The manufacturing model comprises the process of disintermediation in the supply chain by establishing a direct line of transaction between manufactures consumers. This brings about lower prices to the consumers because of the saving on the transaction costs. Substitutively, the companies can multiply income by keeping transaction costs saving and offering the customer added value service in the form of quicker delivery of items or customization of goods to satisfy specific consumer preferences. Take Phones.co.uk for example, which just ten years has grown to be one of the largest retailers of new saxophones thanks to the online business. They used to be a bricks-and-mortar, but now they sell their products both in the shop and through the website. Dealing from a site in rural store situated in Sussex helps to retain rent and other overhead to a minimum. Distribution model Next illustration of the model is Distribution model. This business model combine product manufactures with high volume, for example wholesalers, and retail buyers. Buyers have access to catalogues of industrial items and can compare prices between distributors and find the best trader available. As a consequence of it, the buyers can reduce the cost in terms of the procurement costs. At the same time, the distributors benefit from e-distribution by controlling large volume of customers, automating orders, being contact with partners, advancing value-adding services such as order tracking through each point in the supply chain. Here is an example of a company specializing in e-distribution such as Wipro.com who utilizes the internet to offer fully unified e-business-enabled solutions that help to integrate the information flows over all main distribution processes like sales and marketing automation, customer service, warehouse logistics, purchasing and inventory management, and finance. Virtual Community Lastly, Virtual community is a community of customers who share their interest and exchange communications regarding the interest with each other. Virtual communities benefit from network externality whereby the more people who participate in and contribute to the community the higher the benefit that accrue, but without any extra cost to involvement. Amazon.com offers websites for the swapping of information on a wide range of topics with regard to their portfolio of products and services. There are number of possible e-business models to firms. Some include a form of brokerage, others are information based, on the contrary, some are income models based on access to content or delivery systems. Though, each e-business model is planed to add value to consumers by providing a distinctive selling theory, the high level of competition in the e-business market suggests that attaining uniqueness is often very difficult. As a result, firms search for product differentiation or services, provision of the best price or discount, establishment of bland loyalty, supply additional services like facilitating virtual communities. Combe (2006) argues that “Whatever e-business model is chosen, and whatever way it is designed, it needs to be economically viable”. In order to reach this, businesses have to achieve a critical mass of customers, and add value to customers, and carry on the process of innovation, and increase flexibility to the e-business model for making use of opportunities in different markets. Chapter2 Internet business, which is a new form of business making good use of new technologies like computer, has been evolving all the time. On the one hand, the e-business has unlimited opportunities because the market is highly competitive where the first starter, who invents a new acceptable business model, dominates. On the other hand, the fact that no one has ever been challenged the new business model suggests that any one could fall into the failure. In such a competitive environment, what is the significance of e-business for companies? While Firms enjoy a great deal of benefits and opportunities by utilizing of the e-business, the use of the e-business could also be a drawback. Information of abundance In the first place, let us consider the implication in information as products and services for firms. Information is easily created and can be provided among many receivers such as suppliers, customers, and firms. However, the effortlessness and scale of provision does not reduce the value or quality of the product. Over and above, information is easily controlled and changed to suit different needs of customers in different markets. Nevertheless, there also is the possible danger of diseconomies of scale when consumers become submerged by the utter volume of information accessible that search costs of choosing the information they want increase. By contrast, the economics of abundance that prevail much of information among the world works positively according to the theory of the long tail. The long tail theory that has broken the Pareto principle, which the net profit of the top 20% for products outweigh that of the lower 80% for goods, describes that the net profit of the lower 80% for products by far higher than that of the top 20% for goods(Figure 2.1,2.2). For example, electricity store can only stock majour products like televisions, DVD players, washing machines, computers, and the other products that might be sold a large numbers. However, if those items can be stocked and sold online, there is no such limitation on the number of goods available. This suggests that the more selection that becomes available, the more noticeable the income becomes. Network externalities The second point that we should discuss is network externalities. In economics, the term externality is meant by “the theory that some of the costs or benefits of activities "spill over" onto third parties. When it is a cost that is imposed on third parties, it is called a negative externality. When third parties benefit from an activity in which they are not directly involved, the benefit is called a positive externality” (Callahan, 2001). The same applies to the network externality. The noticeable feature of the network externality is that the level of benefit enjoyed by this economic phenomenon varies when the number of the adopters for the network expands. The first and foremost, a company will launch a website that takes into account a particular customer segment. This may include specific tastes and fashion, interests, hobbies or shared experiences. The initial members on the community contribute to the bank of knowledge and information coming from their experiences and knowledge of the topic matter that the website specializes in. As the new information that are added by the new users increases, the website could be more attractive because of the full of information regarding the topic. Furthermore, firms receive the feedback from customers posted on their websites. There is a strong link between market performance of goods sold online and the positive or negative feedback returned by customers. That is, the more positive the feedback for an item the higher the market growth and sales of that product is likely to be. This is cited as the virtuous cycle for the benefits accumulating to customers communicated via the website makes a velocity that leads to further sales. To the contrary, negative feedback unvaryingly causes the quick crash of sales. This is termed the vicious cycle since the let-down expressed by contributors to the website unvaryingly causes reduced sales. It is important to note that the products or services act as the catalyst for adding value with regard to network externalities, while rather external dimension regarding the network with which the products or services are concerned. Moreover, there are both positive and negative consequences of the economic phenomenon. Advantages and disadvantages of use of internet The point which we have to consider next is the advantages and difficult about use of internet for business with respect to costs and price of production. On the one hand, the internet enables customers to compare prices, products and services by searching a multitude of price comparison sites such as Kelkoo, Pricerunner, or Dealtime. This can cause a reduction in products and services because the price transparency leads to more intense price competition between companies within the same market. Thus, companies have to adopt proper pricing policies to overcome the threats posed by the empowerment of consumers. In general, when companies set price for the product, the basic strategies are divided into four categories including premium prices, that price above the market average are charged because the products offer added value to customers in terms of quality, uniqueness, status or availability; average prices, which the price charged indicates the industry demand and supply active; discount prices, that price are reduced below that of the market price; free, which firms provide products and services without charge in order to attract customers. However, it is inevitable for internet-based firms to contemplate the other strategies such as price discrimination that firms charge different prices according to different consumer segments; bundling, which companies sell a number of items together ( e.g. AOL and Time Warner use the bundling strategy by offering interactive services on television, music on computer, and e-mail on mobile phones alongside their existing services to compete the price comparison sites). On the other hand, internet encourages business to reduce production and distribution cost. The cost of marketing and advertising can be lowered using client information successfully. When it comes to the customer segmentation, which enable firms to adjust the types of products demanded, trends in tastes and fashions, etc., internet can collect and form the basis for a more targeted marketing effort. As a result, companies can prevent from wasting potential cost uselessly. This comprises inventory management, where the electronic monitoring of stock movements improves efficiency in provision of products to customers and ordering replacement stock in good time (e.g. just in time strategy). One of the significant economic impacts of using the internet for e-business has been to propel the competitive environment to that of perfect competition. Nonetheless, two of the most main advantageous aspects comprise the access the internet brings about a broader customer base at low cost, and the reduction in transaction costs. Capter3 The issue of internet security is always troubling many businesses. Nowadays, the number of crimes perverted personal information has been rising. For example, Social networking service site, where the users fill in their personal details ,namely their birthday, the name of favorite artist or pet, or the region they live, like Classmates.com are abused by internet hackers because they can decode the personal password for bank account or credit card by using such information and withdraw money. Under the social condition, internet users have often concerns regarding confidentiality and perceive the internet as being threat to their privacy. Therefore, to improve the privacy standards firms have to co-operate and underpin the legal framework to protect individuals. British internet rule data protection intellectual property law When British firms develop corporation activities utilizing their websites, they have to follow the relevant law and regulations that are basically divided into two parts such as data protection legislation and intellectual property rights Data protection legislation is legal regulations that protect information stored on computers private and that regulate who can read it or use it. This legal rule was introduced under the Data Protection Act 1998. Any organization that holds the customers’ personal information has to register it with the Data protection Register. According to the Information commissioners’ office that is the UK s independent authority launched to promote access to official information and to protect personal information, “the Data Protection Act requires all organizations which handle personal information to comply with a number of important principles regarding privacy and disclosure. The Act states that anyone who processes personal information must comply with eight principles. These state that information must be Fairly and lawfully processed Processed for limited purposes Adequate, relevant and not excessive Accurate and up to date Not kept for longer than is necessary Processed in line with individuals rights Secure Not transferred to other countries without adequate protection” (www site). What is more, the European Union has also announced Directive in relation to data protection. The 1995 Data protection Directive 95/46/EC is the chief EU legislation in respect of data protection. This rule is regularly updated to inform changes in data protection issues. In the matter of intellectual property rights, this is the claim on an idea or a design that somebody has created and that the law prevent other people from copying. In e-business, the main three regulations such as patents that provide protection to unique technical innovations, generally in the manufacturing or productive process; trademark which provide protection to signs, brand names, and commercial logos and labels; and copyright that provide protection to literacy, artistic and musical works, media and software, cable services and recordings; are involved in this legislation. Similarly, in Japan, in terms of increase in the number of cyber crimes using computers in the internet cafes, Japanese Police has requested to the internet cafe industry association “Japan multiple café association” for confirmation of the users and keeping of use document. The innovation of the internet has brought about a massive growth in online transactions for products and services. Therefore, the existing legal framework had to be updated to make allowances for this particular method of transacting. Two of the most significant keystones of the legal framework protecting firms engaged in e-business or e-commerce is intellectual property rights consisted of patents, trademarks, and copyright; and data protection legislation that secure access to information held by organizations. Conclusion The internet has clearly been accepted by many of us with the usability, accessibility, and a notion of boundaryless between country and country. From the standpoint of consumers, people have increasingly acquiring knowledge of internet and computers, in particular, they have come to be familiar with online shopping. Likewise, businesses have discovered a number of e-business models that they benefit from, especially, in the market, where firms transact information like music, computer games, or films. Thus, e-business organizations will continue to seek out the new business models and products and services that can fascinate consumers by means of a distinct added value. In the matter of privacy, trust, and security, although, new regulation systems struggle to control the issue, it has been increasing with obsolete laws for the traditional business models. Therefore, it might inferred from this fact that further new regulation law will be updated A computer network system that is private to a company, but utilize the same software as the internet. Network connection to which particular people who are outside of the organization can access. It will be pointed out in the chapter 2 Short tail theory Long tail theory Link <E-bisiness glossary> e-business e-commerce その他のBUSINSEE TERM 募集
